Welp. If Yankees fans were worried about Jazz Chisholm Jr. ruining his swing in the Home Run Derby, good news. He never found one.

Chisholm’s All-Star festivities ended with a whimper Monday night as he managed just three home runs in the first round of the Derby, the lowest total of the night. The second baseman looked completely out of sync from the jump, and fans — predictably — lit up social media like it was the Fourth of July.

One viewer summed it up pretty cleanly:
“Jazz Chisholm hitting 3 HRs is absolutely hilarious to me.”

Another:
“A Savannah Bananas player could’ve hit more HRs than Jazz Chisholm.”

Even MLB’s own account couldn’t quite spin it.
“Jazz Chisholm Jr. was here for the vibes.”

Yikes.

His longest blast was 453 feet. That showed the raw power that got him the invite, but the rest of his round was awkward. Aaron Judge and CHisholm’s stepfather went to talk to him and try to get him going.

It didn’t work.

That wouldn’t have mattered much, except for the expectations and the history. Yankees fans know this contest can take a toll. Aaron Judge famously needed shoulder surgery after his 2017 win and hasn’t returned since.

Now, the worry shifts to whether Chisholm’s Derby crash-out was just embarrassing or the beginning of a second-half stumble. The Yankees brought him in to spark the infield and the lineup, not trend on social media.

For now, he’s still trending but not for the reasons anyone wanted.
