Jamestown Post 14 Eagles beats Maple Plain 6-0

Jun. 29—MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Jamestown Post 14 Eagles had a big first three innings to get a 6-0 win over the Maple Plain Post 514 Spartans team on Sunday, June 29, at Moorhead’s Matson Field.

The Eagles got their first base runner in the opening frame on an error before Jaxon Kolpin hit a run scoring single to make it 1-0 and then he was brought home on an Ethan Oettle single to make it 2-0.

The Eagles (8-16) added another two runs in the second on a single and a wild pitch to go up by four runs before they added two more in the third to get the six run win. The Eagles had seven hits in the win with Edison Walters lead the way with a 2-for-3 day with one RBI.

On the mound, the Eagles’ Jaxon Kolpin pitched a complete game shutout giving up four hits while striking out six hitters and walking two hitters. The Spartans’ (6-6) Evan Grove went three innings giving up three earned runs on five hits while striking out three hitters and walking five hitters. He was relieved by Michael Walker who went 3.0 giving up two hits while striking out three hitters and walking one hitter.

The Eagles shutout win is their second of the season and their first since they beat the Casselton Haymakers 8-0 on June 9.

The Eagles are back in action at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 4, when they take on Midway-Minto Post 201.
