James Cook and Joey Bosa Work As Bills Provide Injury Update To Open Training Camp

The Buffalo Bills, like all other 31 teams in the league, have kicked off training camp this week. While the organization heads into camp with one of the deepest rosters in football, they did have some health concerns to deal with.

Tight end Dawson Knox (hamstring), offensive tackle Spencer Brown (back), center Sedrick Van Pran Granger (calf) and receiver Laviska Shenault (lower leg strain) missed the first day of practice with injuries.

They are currently rehabbing with the team with no major concerns.

While those injuries are certainly not a good thing, the Bills did have good news at the sessions. Their practices saw the return of edge rusher Joey Bosa and running back James Cook.

For Bosa, his return means his calf injury suffered during offseason workouts is healed to the point he can work out. For head coach Sean McDermott, that means he gets a key piece to his defense back.

The biggest shock, though, came with Cook. The 1,000-yard runner has pushed for a new contract all offseason, and there was some concern he would sit out of practices if he didn’t get one.

That isn’t the case, though. And no one is more thrilled about that than McDermott.

“Couldn’t be more happy with the work that he’s put in to come back healthy and ready to go. And we’ll have a rep plan for him to manage things to the best of our ability, to try and keep him as healthy as possible,” McDermott said.

Buffalo may not be 100 percent as a roster right now, but the return of Cook and Bosa is huge.

Once the team gets healthy, they’ll be back to being one of the top rosters in the game … with Cook and Bosa surely playing key roles in what Bills Mafia hopes is a Super Bowl chase.
