The Denver Broncos were surprised when cornerback Jahdae Barron fell to them at pick No. 20 in last week’s NFL draft, and it was an easy choice to draft him at that spot. Not long after Barron was picked by the Broncos, quarterback Bo Nix reached out to his new teammate.
“He texted me last night and called me,” Barron said during his introductory press conference last Friday. “Crazy night. I called him back this morning, and we chopped it up. He welcomed me, so that’s big. I told him I’m excited and I’m pumped up, just ready to soak a lot of knowledge in. I’m going to come with my best every day, and I know that everybody else is going to give me their best and it’s just going to be iron sharpening iron, so it’s going to be good.”
Barron is expected to serve as the team’s new slot cornerback. Or, if Denver decides to move Riley Moss inside, Barron would play on the outside across from Pat Surtain. Either way, the rookie figures to be one of the team’s top three cornerbacks in 2025. After reaching the playoffs last fall, Nix is excited to have Barron join the squad.
