In the latest 2025 linebacker rankings from ESPN, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Devin Lloyd was nowhere to be found.
Jeremy Fowler continues on with his ranking of the top 10 players at each position group, with insights from NFL executives, coaches, and scouts helping to build those lists.
In addition to ranking the top 10 players, Fowler also highlighted 11 linebackers who were just on the outside looking in as honorable mentions, along with another 11 linebackers who received top 10 votes.
And nowhere was Lloyd’s name mentioned.
Entering the final year of his rookie deal, the Jaguars did not pick up Lloyd’s fifth-year option for the 2026 season, which makes him a free agent after this year.
Lloyd finished the year making 106 of his 111 tackle attempts, and he was among PFF’s highest-graded linebackers in the run game. In coverage, he allowed 11.6 yards per catch with one interception and one pass breakup.
As we mentioned when discussing Foye Oluokun’s spot in ESPN’s rankings, with Anthony Campanile’s coaching background being rooted in the linebacker position, along with him bringing over a scheme that helped elevate the play of the Packers’ linebacker unit, Lloyd and the Jaguars’ linebacker room as a whole could benefit greatly from this offseason change.
For Lloyd specifically, in a defense that will be malleable and throw a variety of different looks at opposing quarterbacks, his versatility could be a real weapon for Campanile in his scheme.
“We’re excited about him,” said Liam Coen earlier this offseason. “A guy that we see we can do some things with. We do feel excited about some of his versatility and experience.”
