Jackson Holliday Stays Hot For Baltimore Orioles

Fans who showed up at Orioles Park at Camden Yards on Sunday saw a barrage of home runs between the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals. Both teams combined for 11 homers in one game, but Orioles second baseman Jackson Holliday had himself a day.

Holliday entered the game with just two home runs to his credit. Well, he slammed two solo shots in Baltimore’s 11-7 loss to the Royals. Holliday finished the day going 3 for 4 at the plate.

He’s been on a tear recently, hitting safely in at least his last five games. Holliday is hitting .273 with 11 RBI as Baltimore keeps trying to get more wins under its belt.

Holliday in an O’s-Royals slugfest

After the loss, Holliday had some thoughts on what took place.

“It was kind of like everyone was throwing punches,” Holliday told MLB.com

The Royals finished up with a club-record seven homers and the Orioles had four as a team.

Holliday is in his second big-league season for Baltimore. Big things are expected out of Holliday, who is the son of former major-league pitcher Matt Holliday. The Austin, Texas native needs to pick up the pace for his team.

It’s been an awful start to the 2025 MLB season for Baltimore. Injuries have riddled the Orioles pitching staff, while their offense has been suspect at best. Holliday is still very young to the Big League life.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde will be watching how Holliday handles himself on and off the field.

As a young player, Holliday is aware of the organization’s and fans’ expectations. He plays hard, though, and shows that he’s willing to learn while playing second base and shortstop. Don’t be surprised if Holliday ends up playing in multiple All-Star Games during his career.
