Indiana Fever Fans Upset Over WNBA Star’s Desire to Leave Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Indiana Fever entered the season as one of the most beloved teams in the WNBA, riding the success of Caitlin Clark.
Clark has helped put the Fever at the top of the WNBA in terms of popularity, alongside several other stars such as Sophie Cunningham, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell.
In 2025, the Fever are playing under first-year head coach Stephanie White. They currently stand at 6-7 on the season, having recently lost back-to-back games.
Amid White’s first season as the head coach of the Fever, Indiana dealt with a unique situation.
Fever forward DeWanna Bonner reportedly has no interest in returning to play for Indiana, per Annie Costabile. She’s currently in her first season with the team, having played nine games for the Fever.
Before the report revealed Bonner’s decision, she had been ruled out for the past several games due to “personal reasons.”
The report later revealed that Bonner’s preferred destinations, if a trade were to ensue, would be the Atlanta Dream and the Phoenix Mercury.

“Bruh, no way Indiana is losing Bonner, that’s bad,” said another fan.
In nine games with the Indiana Fever, DeWanna Bonner posted 7.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
Before joining the Indiana Fever for the 2025 season, Bonner played 10 seasons with the Phoenix Mercury and five seasons with the Connecticut Sun. During her 16-year WNBA career, Bonner has earned two WNBA titles while being named a six-time All-Star.
