Hurricanes Land Elite OL Over Florida Gators originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Mario Cristobal continues to make waves on the recruiting trail, this time by beating out Florida for one of the Sunshine State’s most coveted offensive linemen. Four-star 2026 OL Canon Pickett has officially committed to the Miami Hurricanes, announcing his decision via social media on Monday afternoon.
Pickett, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound mauler out of Berkeley Prep in Tampa, chose the Canes over a final group that included Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU. His decision is a massive win for Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, who have prioritized in-state recruiting, especially in the trenches, during this cycle.

Pickett brings a physical, polished presence to the Hurricanes’ 2026 offensive line class. Known for his strong hands, advanced technique, and violent run-blocking, he’s a tone-setter in the trenches and fits exactly what Miami is trying to build up front. Several scouting outlets believe he has the potential to play early in Coral Gables due to his maturity and football IQ.
This commitment also sends a loud message to the rest of the Sunshine State: Miami is ready to go toe-to-toe with the Gators, Noles, and anyone else for the best talent in Florida.
Pickett becomes Miami’s ninth commitment in the 2026 class and the sixth offensive lineman to pledge for that cycle. His addition boosts the Canes’ already rising stock among national recruiting analysts and reinforces Cristobal’s vision of dominating the line of scrimmage.
With Pickett now in the fold, Miami fans can start dreaming about the kind of nasty, physical offensive line that can impose its will in the ACC. And if this pickup is any indication, Cristobal isn’t done building something special in Coral Gables.
With OL prospects like Pickett and number one overall player Jackson Cantwell in the fold, look for the Miami offense to continue to put up big numbers for years to come. It all starts up front, and nobody knows that more than Coach Cristobal.
