How much salary cap space will Rams need to sign 2025 draft class?

It’s not just draft capital that the Los Angeles Rams have to use on the incoming class of prospects. They also have to make room financially for the newest members of the team. That goes for all 32 teams across the NFL, of course.

Each draft class will take up a certain amount of cap space, with teams picking earlier in the draft needing to reserve more room for their classes. For instance, the Tennessee Titans – who are picking first overall – will need about $10.16 million in cap room for their draft class, according to Over The Cap.

That number is much lower for the Rams, who don’t pick until No. 26 in Round 1. Even though they have eight total picks, they only need $3.25 million in cap room to sign their draft class.

That’s because many of their rookies won’t have cap numbers that put them within the 51 highest on the team, which is what really matters.

Here’s a breakdown of the cap hits for each Rams draft slot.

Cap number for rookie draft picks

  • No. 26: $3.05 million
  • No. 90: $1.14 million
  • No. 101: $1.12 million
  • No. 127: $1.07 million
  • No. 190: $898,590
  • No. 195: $897,515
  • No. 201: $894,767
  • No. 202: $893,956

The top 51 cutoff right now is Omar Speights, whose cap hit is $963,000. That means only the Rams’ first four picks will count toward the 2025 cap as of now, and they’ll replace other players near the bottom in terms of their cap hits.

The player selected 26th overall will have the 19th-highest cap hit on the team, but every other rookie will be 28th or lower on the team for 2025.

Rams cap space

According to Over The Cap, the Rams have $17.66 million in cap room, so they have plenty of space to fit their draft class in. That’s without accounting for Matthew Stafford’s adjusted cap number on his new contract, but he currently has a cap hit of $49.67 million, so it’s hard to imagine it being much higher than that.
