All eyes are on New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson, who is the lone rookie on the team without a signed deal ahead of training camp.
Rookies are scheduled to report to training camp on July 19, and some are wondering if the Patriots’ second-round draft pick would consider holding out. Only Henderson knows if he’d be willing to take things that far to get the deal he wants.
However, it must be noted that he participated in organized team activities and mandatory minicamp, despite not having a deal in place. One would think it will be the same for training camp, but we’ll have to see what happens over the next few days.
Henderson is expected to serve as the No. 2 running back option behind Rhamondre Stevenson, but he is talented enough to surpass the veteran rusher as the top option in the Patriots’ offense. He’s a rare triple-threat option in the offensive backfield with the ability to run, receive and pass protect.
There are 30 rookies who still remain unsigned out of 32 second-round draft picks. So the Patriots aren’t the only team dealing with rookie issues ahead of training camp.
