Tuesday was scheduled to be the first padded practice of training camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fans packed the facilities at Saint Vincent after long waits to get in. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans as heavy storms rolled up just before the start of practice, postponing the team’s first padded practice.
The team moved indoors to the gym at Saint Vincent, where they ran an abridged version of practice without pads. This practice was closed to the public. The team is scheduled to practice in pads on Wednesday and there is no rain in the forecast.
Fans love the padded practice primarily for the increased intensity in drills. Backs-on-backers is everyone’s favorite and one everyone was looking forward to.
Pittsburgh kicks off its preseason schedule on Saturday night. The team is set to go on the road and take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
