Kurt Warner is one of the greatest to ever play quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals and is in the Hall of Fame. He was a special player.
However, as great as he was, there was something he wasn’t very good at. He was not great at bring a team back from behind.
In his career, he had only seven fourth-quarter comebacks and 11 game-winning drives. With the Cardinals, he had five fourth-quarter comebacks and six game-winning drives.
Comparatively, John Skelton, who played in only 20 games in his NFL career and started 17 from 2010-2012, had six fourth-quarter comebacks and seven game-winning drives.
Kyler Murray, who has started 82 games for the Cardinals, has 11 fourth-quarter comebacks and 13 game-winning drives.
But here is a crazy stat on X/Twitter.
Since 1994 (including playoffs) when down by multiple scores in the 2nd half:
Most wins: Tom Brady (29)
Highest win%: Tom Brady (.309)Per @Statheadpic.twitter.com/PqXmCnuCaM

While this is meant to be about how great Tom Brady was in his career, note who is at the bottom. It is Warner. In his career, he played in 40 games in which his team trailed at any point in the second half by more than eight points and won exactly zero of them, the lowest percentage of any quarterback since 1994 with at least 100 NFL starts.
Warner was great at getting his team ahead and keeping a lead. He was not great at rallying his team when things got sideways.
As great a career as he had, it is crazy to see that he never came back from a second-half deficit of more than one score.
What about Kyler Murray? That is coming in the next few days, to see how he stacks up, as he did not make the above list because he has not started 100 games yet in his career.
