Good news on the Graham Glasgow injury front.
A day after the Lions; veteran starting center left the joint practice session with the Houston Texans with a lower leg injury, reports out of Detroit indicate that Glasgow suffered only a mild injury and there is no long-term concern. Justin Rogers of the Detroit Football Network was the first to report the positive outlook on Glasgow.
Glasgow was slow to get up from a pile following a run play during the team drills in Thursday’s practice. After straightening and bending his leg a couple of times, Glasgow left the field with trainers. He then walked slowly under his own power from the sideline to the locker room.
It’s very positive news on Glasgow, who has surged in recent practices after a middling start to Detroit’s training camp. His presence in the middle is vital as the Lions look to replace All-Pro Frank Ragnow at center while also breaking in two new starting guards, Christian Mahogany and rookie Tate Ratledge. Their chemistry as a trio has been coming together nicely.
Glasgow was not going to play in Saturday’s preseason finale against the Texans, even prior to the injury; Detroit doesn’t play established starters in the preseason, period. Kingsley Eguakun, who replaced Glasgow in practice as the first-team center, is expected to start against Houston.
