German tennis player Tamara Korpatsch has hit out at those abusing her online in the wake of a recent defeat and suggested they should stop betting on her matches.
Korpatsch said that a user wanted to see her dead after she lost on Monday in Warsaw against Gao Xinyu, possibly because he had had bet money on her.
“It is better not to hope that other people die. Better you watch out yourself and focus on your own sh*t life,” Korpatsch said late Tuesday in her Instagram Story.
World number 155 Korpatsch added in general terms: “Why are you still betting on my matches? As you all said: I am shit, I can’t serve, I’m playing bad tennis. So if I’m so bad, why are you fu**king betting on me???
“Rather stop betting on any matches and start going to real work. I give a f**k what you say about me,” she said.
Sports betting plays a big role in online abuse of tennis players, the women’s WTA Tour said recently. According to a study angry betters make up 40% of the abuse.
