Garrett Nussmeier spotted with Kellen Moore at Saints minicamp

The New Orleans Saints opened up their mandatory minicamp practice to fans on Tuesday, but some of the most notable spectators were on the sidelines. Former Pro Bowl center LeCharles Bentley has found a tremendous second act in football as a personal trainer for offensive linemen, and he was back at the team practice facility in Metairie; NewOrleans.Football’s Mike Triplett also saw former Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff chopping it up with Mickey Loomis. And that’s interesting. Loomis has added a lot of former GM’s to his front office like Jeff Ireland and Dave Ziegler, with his old boss Randy Mueller also joining the crew. Maybe Dimitroff is next.

But a lot of fans were excited to see who Kellen Moore was talking to during practiceLSU Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, son of Moore’s offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier. It isn’t often a top prospect is at a pro team’s facility a year out from the next draft, but it’s kind of a unique situation given the ties involved. Maybe Nussmeier builds on a strong 2024 season and the Saints end up in a position to draft him in 2025.

This all kind of goes to show the atmosphere at this stage of OTAs; minicamp is full of seven-on-seven drills, light work, and some celebrity cameos before players take off for the summer. With an intense training camp on the horizon at the end of July, they’ll be grateful for easier days like this in mid-June.
