Francisco Lindor Makes Juan Soto Request After Ronald Acuña News originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Unsurprisingly, the star-studded New York Mets are sending three players to the 2025 All-Star Game. Shortstop Francisco Lindor, first baseman Pete Alonso, and closer Edwin Diaz all got the nod as they continue their momentum.
However, four-time All-Star Juan Soto did not get selected this season, his first with the Mets. Soto is slashing .269/.399/.509 with 21 homers and 52 RBI over 91 games. He’s tied for 10th in baseball in home runs and is 10th with a .908 OPS.
Meanwhile, Lindor is slashing .260/.331/.457 with 18 homers and 51 RBI over 90 contests, while Alonso is slashing .290/.383/.551 with 21 homers and 75 RBI across 82 games.
Unlike his star teammates, though, Soto started slow. The 6-foot-1-inch, 224-pounder hit .232 in April and .219 in May before shooting up to .322 in June and .333 in July thus far. Lindor hit .339 in April, .255 in May, .204 in June, and .304 so far in July, while Alonso hit .358 in April, .234 in May, .295 in June, and .238 in July to this point.
Still, Soto could substitute for injured Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr., via MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo. The Braves scratched the outfielder on Tuesday due to lower back tightness.
Lindor is hoping that Soto gets a chance, via SNY.
“I hope he ends up making it. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves,” the 31-year-old said after New York’s 7-6 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. “He belongs in the All-Star Game. Hopefully, there’s an opportunity for him to be in it so the four of us can go and get booed.”
Soto could make it if any of the selected NL outfielders drop out of the contest.

Soto drove in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning on Tuesday with an RBI single, and right-handed reliever Huascar Brazoban secured the save in the bottom of the frame. Soto finished 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored.
The former New York Yankee now has hits in five of his seven games in July so far.
