World, meet Alicia Tournebize.
A lanky 6-foot-4 center and the star of France’s U18 women’s basketball team, Tournebize is of the new breed of women’s basketball stars who can legitimately play above the rim.
At just 17 years old, Tournebize has already dunked in games at both the professional and international levels, and her latest dunk is making waves amongst basketball fans across the world.
The bronze medal game in the U18 EuroBasket between France and Belgium started off close, as France led 18-17 after one quarter. But then the French took off – and in Tournebize’s case, we mean “took off” in a literal sense.
Up 61-31 with 8:22 remaining in the game, Tournebize was guarding the screener of a pick-and-roll and blitzed or hedged it aggressively, ending up with an easy steal – and an open runway.

Tournebize needed just two dribbles to get from half court to the rim, and she got up high enough to cram it down with two hands. Frankly, she made it look easy. The upper ranks of women’s basketball don’t lack for 6-foot-4 post players, but Tournebize is ahead of most of the pack when it comes to hops and wingspan.
France went on to win 72-47, and Tournebize finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks on 8-12 shooting. She ended the tournament leading France with 12.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. Tournebize also averaged 1.4 assists and 1.0 steals, and shot 54.9% from the field.
Spain and Finland won the gold and silver, respectively.
