BYU added another four-star talent to an already impressive 2026 football recruiting class on Monday. Linebacker Braxton Lindsey announced his commitment to the Cougars in a brief ceremony.

Lindsey is rated a 4-star prospect by ESPN and ranked in the top 10 for the state of Arkansas. This comes months after he made an official visit to Provo. Lindsey chose BYU over offers several Power Four programs, including Oklahoma, Miami, Utah, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, and others.

While Lindsey made official visits around the country as of late, BYU was the top spot for the defensive playmaker. He claims linebacker as his top choice, but has also played on both sides of the ball.

Lindsey tallied 28 tackles with 9 sacks, 10 QB pressures, and 2 forced fumbles on defense. Offensively, he racked up 62 receptions for 1,139 yards and 14 touchdowns

What becomes an interesting topic of conversation is how Lindsey will be used by BYU’s coaching staff. The hybrid nature could make him a plag-and-play type of athlete. He’ll likely stay on defense, but a few offensive snaps couldn’t hurt his progression either.
