Former Vol wide receiver reuniting with Jauan Jennings with 49ers

A former Tennessee wide receiver signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Thursday ahead of NFL preseason kicking off.

Marquez Callaway signed with San Francisco, along with running back Ameer Abdullah, quarterback Carter Bradley and wide receiver Andy Isabella. The 49ers released wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown and waived offensive lineman Sebastian Gutierrez, wide receiver Malik Knowles and safety Jaylen Mahoney.

Callaway played for the Vols from 2016-19 and recorded 92 receptions, 1,646 yards and 13 touchdowns in 42 games. He also totaled 543 punt return yards and scored three touchdowns.

Callaway was not selected in the 2020 NFL draft. Following the 2020 NFL draft, he signed as a free agent with New Orleans.

The 6-foot-2, 204-pound wide receiver will reunite with a former Vol at San Francisco. Jauan Jennings enters his fifth season with the 49ers in 2025. He played at Tennessee from 2015-19.
