Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Robert Rochell, who departed to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs during free agency but was released shortly after, has landed with the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year deal. The Cowboys announced the move on Wednesday.
Rochell, 27, spent two seasons with the Packers, appearing in 20 regular season games and three playoff games between the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He played primarily on special teams, with 112 snaps played in 2023 and 121 in 2024. He saw just one snap on defense.
The Chiefs signed Rochell as an unrestricted free agent on March 25 but released him on May 6. A fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, Rochell is now going on his sixth NFL team.
The Cowboys have added Rochell, third-round pick Shavon Revel Jr. and former first-round pick Kalir Elam at cornerback this offseason. As was the case in Green Bay, Rochell will likely have to win a 53-man roster spot via special teams.
The Packers, meanwhile, are transitioning at cornerback in 2025. Rochell, Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes and Corey Ballentine all left Green Bay this offseason. The Packers added veteran Nate Hobbs in free agency, drafted Micah Robinson in the seventh round and signed Gregory Junior, Isaiah Dunn and Tyron Herring. Hobbs, Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine are the expected starters, while Robinson, Kalen King and Kamal Hadden are expected to compete for backup roles.
