Former Oregon Ducks players who survived NFL roster cuts this week

Now that the NFL preseason is over, the most dreaded part of the season for many of their players is upon us. All 32 teams begin making their roster cuts after the final week of preseason and there were many former Oregon Ducks who received life-changing news.

Unfortunately, there were some players who were informed of their release, but one of the more heartwarming stories from cut day is cornerback Nikko Reed, who made the Los Angeles Chargers’ roster after signing as an undrafted free agent. When his former head coach, Dan Lanning, was asked about the news, he made it abundantly clear how proud he is of Reed.

“For guys like Nikko, you’re thrilled to see them take advantage of an opportunity, and not necessarily care about how they got there,” said Lanning. “I’m not one bit surprised with him. He’s always been a great player. He operates like a vet. He’s had a really good fall camp it looks like from the outside looking in.”

Here’s a look at some of the other players, along with Reed, who secured their future with a team this weekend.

Ducks on NFL rosters

Simply making the roster was a foregone conclusion for some of these players. But for the rest of the pack, this is a momentous opportunity that they will try not to let slip through their hands. Everyone combined will do their best to carry on the NFL Ducks tradition.
