Two former Lady Vol basketball players competed in the WNBA on Tuesday. One former Lady Vol missed her team’s game due to injury.
Chicago (4-10) defeated Los Angeles (4-11), 97-86, at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
Rickea Jackson started and played 36 minutes for the Sparks. She totaled 11 points, four assists, one rebound and one block. Jackson converted 5-of-11 field goal attempts. The former Lady Vol is in her second professional season after being selected in the first round of the 2024 WNBA draft (No. 4 overall) by the Sparks.
Mercedes Russell recorded two points and two rebounds, while playing seven minutes for Los Angeles. She converted 1-of-2 field goal attempts against the Sky. Russell played for the Lady Vols from 2013-18 under head coach Holly Warlick.
She was selected by New York (No. 22 overall) in the 2018 WNBA draft.
Rae Burrell was inactive for the Sparks as she continues to recover from a knee injury suffered against Golden State in May.
She played for the Lady Vols from 2018-22 and was selected by Los Angeles in the first round (No. 9 overall) of the 2022 WNBA draft.
