Former Falcons OLB Lorenzo Carter retiring from NFL

Former Falcons outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter has officially retired from football, as was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The news comes as something of a surprise after Carter signed with the Tennessee Titans just four months ago. It’s an early end for Carter, who is just 29 years old.

He has now been placed on the team’s reserve/retired list.

Carter spent a total of three seasons in Atlanta, his most recent stop, appearing in 47 games and tallying 125 combined tackles (76 solo), 14 TFL, 24 QB hits, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception returned for a touchdown.

Carter began his NFL career when the New York Giants selected him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, allowing him to see four seasons of his NFL career on their turf. There, he racked up 153 combined tackles (94 solo), 21 TFL, 35 QB hits, 14.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a single interception.

The ex-Falcon finishes out his career with 96 career appearances with 62 starts.
