Former Browns RB Nick Chubb passes physical with Houston Texans

Former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is poised to embark on a new chapter in his NFL career, with all signs pointing to him signing with the Houston Texans after he has officially passed his physical.

This signing was contingent on his physical, but The Athletic’s Diana Russini has indicated Chubb and the Texans have been given the green light.

This move brings a fresh scenery for Chubb, whose impressive tenure in Cleveland was unfortunately punctuated by season-ending injuries in 2023 and 2024.

At this point in his career, all Chubb has left is his elite vision, a world-class trait that has been crucial to his sustained success. His body, however, no longer has the ability to keep up ever since that fateful September night in 2023 at Acrisure Stadium. Spotrac estimates his current market value at $3.3 million per year, placing him in a similar financial tier to Gus Edwards, who inked a deal averaging $3.25 million last offseason.

For the Browns, this signals an official divorce from Chubb for at least the 2025 season. With promising young options like Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson on the roster, Cleveland is moving forward with its youth movement in the backfield, making a future reunion with Chubb unlikely.
