Flau’Jae Johnson’s LSU Tigers closed out the 2024-25 campaign with a 31-6 record (12-4 SEC) under head coach Kim Mulkey’s fourth year at the helm.
The Tigers advanced to the SEC Tournament semifinals before falling to Texas, then made a deep NCAA Tournament run, dispatching San Diego State, Florida State, and NC State before bowing out in an Elite Eight loss to No. 1 UCLA.
On Monday, Johnson shared a poignant message with her 2 million Instagram followers, marking the 22nd anniversary of her father’s passing.
“They took you from me today 💔 5-19-03 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️ I’m carrying the torch #TheDonDaughter,” she wrote on her official account @flaujae, referencing Jason Johnson, better known as the late rapper Camoflauge, who was fatally shot in May 2003.
In the video, Johnson shared, “When I was around seven years old, I found out who my father was, and I was like, ‘This is what I want to do. I want to rap.’ That’s been my dream the whole time, to try to fulfill my father’s legacy and make sure that they remember his name.”
Fans online were quick to show their support.
One user commented, “His legacy continues through you while also creating your own🥹👏🏾💚💚💚.”

Since arriving at LSU in 2022, Johnson has steadily ascended to stardom.
As a freshman, she averaged 11.0 points and 5.9 rebounds en route to an NCAA championship and SEC Freshman of the Year honors.
In 2023-24, she boosted her numbers to 14.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, earning Second-Team All-SEC recognition.
This past season, she elevated her scoring to 18.6 points per game, added 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals, while garnering First-Team All-SEC and Third-Team All-American honors from both the AP and USBWA.
