Adam Carlén has arrived as Excelsior’s latest signing. The Swedish midfielder from IFK Goteborg is the newest face at the Kralingen club, who earlier in the day presented Lewis Schouten (on loan from AZ).

The 25-year-old Carlén has signed a two-year contract and comes over from the Allsvenskan, where he made a solid reputation for himself over the past two and a half years.

“I am a hard-working player who gives everything for the team”, he said of himself on the club website. “My strength lies in protecting the defence and winning duels. I am looking forward to being on the pitch and playing for the fans of Excelsior.”

At Excelsior, Carlén will meet fellow countryman Casper Widell, who was an important pawn in the Rotterdammers’ promotion year last season.

“He was very positive and helpful. That helped me to get a good picture of what awaits me here.”
