The Buffalo Bills haven’t solved their problem with with running back James Cook, who is seeking a new contract as he enters the final year of his rookie deal.
But maybe we should politely request that ESPN not sound foolish alarms regarding its progree reports.
Cook wasn’t at OTAs, which is, of course, voluntary … all part of him voicing his discontent at the lack of movement on a new deal.
Over the weekend, ESPN’s Adam Schefter told us what would happen next.
Or so he thought.
“It bears watching because you’ve got a guy who’s unhappy with this contractual situation, who has basically disconnected himself from the organization, the city, put his house up for sale,” Schefter said.
“I don’t think we’ll be seeing him in Buffalo anytime soon …”
Oops.
The Bills opened up their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.

Buffalo’s mandatory minicamp can serve as a test of Cook’s relationship with the team. He it could be the start of something positive.
Or, maybe this key offense pieces for coordinator Joe Brady simply doesn’t want to get fined.
But ESPN just took a chunk out of its own reputation here with embarrassing headline-grabbing “reporting” … as Cook is at work, however begrudgingly … not absent and not “disconnected.”
