The Kansas City Chiefs have begun preparations for the upcoming 2025 NFL season, beginning training camp last week at Missouri Western State University (St. Joseph, Missouri). And their three-headed monster of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones has returned, eyeing their fourth Super Bowl win together.

ESPN has high expectations for the Chiefs in 2025

Despite falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, the Chiefs still finished tied with the Detroit Lions for the best record in the NFL last season at 15-2. Yet, ESPN projects them to improve on that mark this season.

ESPN Analytics’ Matchup Predictor forecasts the outcome of every regular-season game through Week 18, and it has Kansas City winning all but one in 2025, projecting a 16-1 finish.

The only game ESPN has the Chiefs losing is their Week 9 battle against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game. ESPN gives Kansas City a 47.8% chance to win on the road, while the Bills sit at 51.8%. The final 0.4% accounts for a possible tie.

Other notable games ESPN predicts include the Week 2 Super Bowl rematch against the Eagles, giving Kansas City a 53.2% chance to win compared to Philadelphia’s 46.4%. The Chiefs have 55.1% odds to knock off Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, and a 56.3% chance to defeat the Detroit Lions in Week 6.

The Chiefs will begin the regular season on Friday, September 5, facing Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil. For that game, ESPN gives Kansas City a 56.9% chance to win.
