Eagles Sign Pass-Rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo For Instant Impact originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
If there is one lesson the Philadelphia Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman have learned over the years, it is to never be fully satisfied with the roster…
Even if the team had just won the Super Bowl the year prior.
Philadelphia may be coming off a title win, but the organization has spent this offseason looking for ways to make (sometimes affordable) improvements. On Tuesday, they added a player to help bolster the depth of one of their biggest question-mark areas going into the 2025 season.
The Eagles signed veteran edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo. The former fifth-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams and Houston Texans has recorded 12.5 sacks in limited playing time over the last three years.
He has recorded 17 sacks total throughout his six-year NFL career.
Philly also signed UFL defensive tackle Jacob Sykes, and to make room on the roster, they waived defensive end K.J. Henry and running back Lew Nichols.
Okoronkwo (recently cut by Cleveland with one year remaining on a three-year, $19 million contract) should provide quality depth, and maybe instant impact, to a defensive line in desperate need of more. The Eagles lost Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and Brandon Graham this offseason. While the team did sign Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari as potential replacements, you can never have too many edge rushers.
That is where Okoronkwo comes in… and if he can find a way to produce, he will be heralded as yet another example of the Eagles’ penchant for adding key pieces to an already stacked roster.
