Eagles hosted a talented pass rusher on a top 30 predraft visit

The Eagles built through the trenches, and after Brandon Graham retired and Josh Sweat joined the Cardinals, youthful reinforcements were needed. We’re now 15 days away from the start of Round 1, and Philadelphia is finishing up top 30 predraft visits.

On Wednesday, the team hosted Southern Cal cornerback Jaylin Smith and former Miami pass rusher Tyler Baron at the NovaCare Complex. Baron spent three seasons in Tennessee, forming a disruptive edge rusher tandem with fellow draft prospect James Pearce Jr. in 2023. In four years with the Vols, Baron had 13.5 sacks with 28 tackles for loss. After the 2023-24 season, he entered the transfer portal and would settle on Miami.

Baron had 4.5 sacks in the first three weeks with Miami. He had only one sack over the final 10 games, but still led the Hurricanes with 5.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and over 30 QB pressures.

At 6’5″ and 258 pounds, Baron has the length that NFL teams desire on the edge, and is a talented pass rusher, but he needs to improve against the run.
