Emanuel Dildy has been promoted to associate head coach for Duke’s men’s basketball team.
The program announced the promotion on Monday morning. Dildy has been an assistant coach for the Blue Devils for the past two seasons.
“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Emanuel the past two seasons, and his impact on our program has been tremendous,” coach Jon Scheyer said through a news release. “He’s an elite recruiter, a detailed teacher of the game and someone whose tireless work ethic sets the tone for our staff and players.
“Emanuel’s leadership, energy and passion embody what Duke Basketball is all about, and I’m excited to elevate him into this well-deserved role as associate head coach.”
Dildy was an assistant under Chris Collins at Northwestern from 2018-21. Dildy then spent two seasons at Oklahoma with Porter Moser before joining the Blue Devils.
He coaches Duke’s wings — a position group that saw Kon Knueppel become a star last season. This year’s team features Isaiah Evans, Dame Sarr, Nikolas Khamenia and Darren Harris on the wing.
Duke has four assistant coaches and the two who have previously been with the program are now associate head coaches. Chris Carrawell was promoted to associate head coach in June of 2021, before Mike Krzyzewski’s final season.
Scheyer, Carrawell and Dildy are joined by new assistant coaches Tyler Thornton and Evan Bradds this season. They’re replacing Jai Lucas, now the head coach at Miami, and Will Avery.
Duke still has one assistant coach vacancy, though there is no requirement to fill it. Last season’s staff only had four on-court assistant coaches.
