Ducks Fanbase Seems to Be Impacting Head Coaching Search

The Anaheim Ducks are in the midst of an extensive search for a new head coach of the team. The search has seen them take all sorts of twists and turns, including one that has angered much of the fanbase.

It has been widely reported that Anaheim has interviewed former Chicago Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville for the job. Quenneville was part of the 2010 scandal in Chicago that saw the team cover up a sexual assault of a former player by a former video coach.

Upon hearing the news, many fans voiced their displeasure by writing the team on social media and via the team’s website. But now it seems that the Ducks could be going in a different direction.

According to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, Anaheim has now interviewed other candidates.

“Hearing Ducks have interviewed Jay Woodcroft. Also hear Ducks GM Pat Verbeek recently met with David Carle. Believe Anaheim has also made contact with Mike Sullivan. As reported by others, Joel Quenneville will soon get a second interview. Other names in mix. Wide search by Ducks”

LeBrun does report that Quenneville will be getting a second interview, but the team seems to be looking at other candidates, too. Anaheim could be trying to save some face with these new interviews, because it previously reported that if Quenneville wanted the job, it was his.

But no matter what happens, it’s clear that many fans don’t want Quenneville to be the next head coach. Anaheim has a good, young core, and whoever takes over will have a lot of work to do in helping them get back to the postseason.
