Dream Land Award Winning Score Amid Moves in Latest WNBA News

The Atlanta Dream made a roster move on Monday, adding rookie Shyanne Sellers to the team. Sellers was part of the 2025 WNBA draft and was selected by the Golden State Valkyries with the 17th pick. However, it didn’t last long until she was back with a team.

Each WNBA team is limited to 12 players. This led Sellers to get cut despite a strong impression on Golden State’s head coach. Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase explained that Sellers was cut not because of a lack of talent. Nakase said there just wasn’t enough space for her in the team.

“She picked up everything we asked her to, did everything we asked. It’s just that I have to choose the best 12 that are going to fit. Doesn’t mean it’s the most talented, it means it’s the best 12,” the head coach said via ESPN’s Kendra Andrews.

Golden State has a logjam at the guard position, and adding Sellers could mean the players will have to fight for playing time.

Sellers is coming off a stellar college career in Maryland. The rookie guard was part of the Big Ten First Team three times during her four-year stay at the school. Defensively, she asserted herself as one of the best defensive players in college with one Big Ten All-Defensive selection.

Selliers was voted the Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year and part of the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2022. In her four years in Maryland, she averaged 12.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists. In her final year, the 6-foot-2 guard put up 14.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists.
