The Golden State Warriors are all tied up with the Minnesota Timberwolves at 1-1 in their second-round series after losing 117-93 in Game 2. While the team was without Stephen Curry, they tried rallying around Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler, but just couldn’t compete.
Green has been the Warriors’ defensive anchor for over a decade, making multiple enemies around the league. Whether against opponents like Rudy Gobert or Domantas Sabonis, or against entire fan bases who don’t like his aggressive on-court style, Green always has eyes on him when he’s on the court.
This attention often manifests in negative ways, as fans try to attack Green outside of the court as well. This was clear during last night’s game, as a fan shared a clip of Green being hassled by a fan mid-game while on a stationary bike with alleged racial slurs thrown at him, as the Warriors have also confirmed to ESPN.
Adding to Green’s night was a fan who was ejected for directing a racial slur at Green, Golden State team security confirmed. Green was on a stationary bike in the tunnel near the Warriors’ bench in the fourth quarter when he had a back-and-forth with the fan. Authorities escorted the fan out of the arena.

This puts Green’s postgame comments about being treated by many as a stereotypical “angry Black man” into perspective.
“I’m not an angry Black man. I’m a very successful, educated Black man with a great family, and I’m great at basketball, I’m great at what I do. The agenda to try to keep making me look like an angry Black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous,” Green said in the locker room following Game 2.
Unfortunately, Green has had to deal with a situation like this in the middle of a highly competitive playoff series. It’s hard to put this behind and just move on, but the 35-year-old forward won’t have any other choice with the Warriors hoping to retake the advantage in the series in Game 3 at home.
