Real Madrid bagged a 1-0 win against Juventus in the Round of 16 and secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup.
Real Madrid are now pitted against Borussia Dortmund in the competition’s next stage. The Bundesliga side defeated C.F. Monterrey 2-1 in the Round of 16.
The last time both sides met was in the early stages of the Champions League last October, and the match ended in a 5-2 win for the La Liga giants.
Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash, during which he claimed that his team are not the ‘favorites’ in the Club World Cup.

Speaking ahead of the Club World Cup, Kovac heaped praise on Real Madrid’s squad and said,
“Real Madrid have a great team with a number of excellent individual players. They play a very vertical and fast style. We’re basically seeing the same style of football that Xabi already played at Leverkusen,” as per Madrid Universal.

“We’re not the favorites. In football, you have to play first. If we perform like we did in the first half against Monterrey, we’ll have opportunities.”
Real Madrid are set to lock horns with Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinal of the Club World Cup on July 5 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Los Blancos have a good record against Dortmund, with eight victories in 16 matches as opposed to the German side’s three wins. The remaining five matches ended in a draw.
