Dodgers General Manager Has Bold Take on Current Roster Heading Into Trade Deadline

On paper, the Los Angeles Dodgers are arguably the most talented team in Major League Baseball history when healthy. Unfortunately, the ‘when healthy’ part is a big if, as the Dodgers have multiple players who are injured right now and have also dealt with numerous injuries throughout their careers.

From Tyler Glasnow to Blake Snell to many others, the Dodgers must be careful they don’t find the injury bug too tough to overcome.

However, as a team, some believe the Dodgers are in a better position than they were a year ago, including Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes. Gomes noted that he thinks his team is better than it was a year ago, which might not be unfair, as they also dealt with injuries last season.

Still, he also can’t be unrealistic and think that this team has a legitimate chance to win a World Series, given the injuries they’ve dealt with.

“Over the long haul, big picture 162 (games) and what a potential playoff team will look like, this group is really talented and I would argue it’s better than the team that won the World Series last year,” Gomes said, per The Athletic.

Over the past month, one could argue that the Dodgers have played worse than at any moment over the past few years. They sit at 4-6 over their last 10 games, and despite the injuries being a significant factor in that, no one will feel bad for Los Angeles come playoff time.

Everybody expects his team to win at the highest level.

If the Dodgers don’t, they’ll be criticized for one way or another.
