Bayern Munich have been eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup as they lost 2-0 to PSG in the quarterfinals. It wasn’t the only bad news Bayern fans received as JamalMusiala suffered a scary ankle injury.

Just before the end of the first half, Musiala tried to take the ball from Willian Pacho, but PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma rushed towards the ball. As he claimed the ball, Donnarumma brought down Musiala, which led to a serious ankle injury.

As Musiala was screaming in pain, PSG and Bayern players around him were stunned and knew the injury he suffered was serious. Donnarumma covered his face and was ashamed of the challenge against Musiala.

Musiala was subbed off by his manager, Vincent Kompany, and did not play in the second half. The crowd at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium booed Donnarumma for the rest of the game.

What is Musiala’s injury?

Musiala was stretchered off the pitch and taken to the nearest hospital. Kerry Hau from Sky Sports Germany reports that Musiala may have fractured his fibula. A severe fibula fracture typically can take between three to six months.

BILD reports that Musiala has broken his left fibula and damaged several ligaments, which will likely keep him out for four to five months.

It was Musiala’s first start for Bayern in three months, having suffered a hamstring injury in April and slowly gaining more minutes at the Club World Cup.

Kompany was asked about Musiala’s injury after the game, as he will be set to lose a crucial player ahead of the new season that starts next month.

Vincent Kompany: “It was emotional. Of course, it didn’t look good. I hope it’s not too bad, but it didn’t look good. I hope he’ll have the best possible recovery.”

Donnarumma posted a post on his Instagram dedicated to Musiala, and the Italian goalkeeper feels ashamed for accidentally injuring the Bayern star. The PSG keeper wrote, “All my prayers and well wishes are with you,” and tagged Musiala.

Reactions to Musiala’s Injury

Alphonso Davies was livestreaming during the game, and his reaction to his teammate’s injury has gone viral. Davies is currently injured, having suffered an ACL in his right knee in a game for Canada against the USMNT in March.

The Canadian left-back was devastated to see his teammate go down, and Musiala is a crucial player for Bayern Munich.

Neymar posted an image of Musiala on his Instagram story, wishing the player a speedy recovery. The Brazilian star also praised Jamal Musiala for what he brings to the sport.

Neymar: “I hope you recover quickly to come back and shine. Football needs your talent. Stay strong.”

PSG players like Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes wished Musiala a speedy recovery after the match. The French club also wished the Bayern Munich star a speedy recovery after the match on their X account.
