With pick No. 196 in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Boise State EDGE Ahmed Hassanein.
The Lions stood pat with their final sixth-round pick to take Hassanein, who has an interesting story. He’s an Egyptian native who was a latecomer to football. He quickly developed into a finisher for the Broncos, bagging 9.5 sacks and 15.5 TFLs in 2024.
The 6-foot-2, 267-pound Hassanein is known for his high effort and power-to-speed pass-rush style. He is the first EDGE the Lions have selected in the draft and the second defender, joining first round DT Tyleik Williams.
