The legal battles for Cleveland Browns, and former Clemson Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson are not over. A Houston judge is now weighing whether Watson must sit for another deposition in a civil lawsuit filed by a woman who accuses him of sexual misconduct during a 2020 massage session.

The plaintiff’s attorney, Anissah Nguyen, has formally requested a judge to compel Watson’s testimony. However, Watson’s legal team fired back on Monday, filing a motion in Harris County District Court to quash the request, calling the entire lawsuit “totally frivolous.”

In the motion, Watson’s lawyers argue that the window for discovery in the case, which was originally filed in October 2022, has closed.

“Plaintiff’s Motion to Compel Mr. Watson’s deposition should be denied for another reason: he has already been deposed,” the document states. “Plaintiff fails to mention this first deposition in her Motion at all, much less provide any justification for a second bite at the apple.”

This lawsuit represents one of the remaining legal challenges for Watson, who previously faced 24 similar lawsuits. He settled 23 of those cases.

Two separate grand juries in Texas previously declined to indict Watson on any criminal charges related to the allegations.

Watson, who is continuing his comeback with the Browns, has maintained his innocence. After a season-ending injury in 2024, he recently stated he’ll make a comeback that is “way better than before.” This latest legal development, however, ensures that the off-the-field headlines will continue to follow him.
