Deion Sanders has promoted his son, Shedeur, as a top pick in the NFL Draft. You wouldn’t expect anything less from a father, who has also been his only coach. However, the NFL talent evaluators sent a message to Coach Prime and the Buffs QB after he fell out of the first round.
On Thursday night, one tweet from Deion resurfaced in the latest cold take. While going at it with an internet troll last year, Prime boldly stated Shedeur would “be a top 5 pick.” The false information was even flagged by the X community after the opening round of the draft
He will be a top 5 pick. Where yo son going ? Lololol I got time today. Lololol https://t.co/tGS6dfm7iy

After falling out of the first round, Shedeur addressed the party crowd at the Prime compound in Canton, Texas.

“We all didn’t expect this, of course,” Shedeur said. “I feel like with God, anything is possible. Everything is possible. I don’t feel like this happened for no reason. All this is is, of course, fuel to the fire. Under no circumstance did we know this was gonna happen. But we understand we’re on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow’s the day. We’re gonna be happy regardless. Legendary.”

The 2025 NFL Draft continues on Friday night with the second and third rounds. We’ll see how far Shedeur continues to tumble down (7 p.m. ET on NFL Network). Maybe Coach Prime was talking about the top five of the second round.
