Dates announced for Indianapolis Colts' 2 joint practices this summer

The NFL announced the dates for each joint practice that will take place this summer.

We already knew that the Indianapolis Colts would have a joint practice with the Baltimore Ravens prior to their Week 1 preseason matchup, and we also knew that the Colts were hosting the Green Bay Packers for a joint practice prior to their Week 2 preseason matchup.

Now we know the exact dates for when those practices will be taking place. The Colts and Ravens will hold their joint practice on August 5th, while the Colts will host the Packers on August 14th.

Joint practices have been a common occurrence for the Colts under head coach Shane Steichen and around the NFL for most teams.

For one, it provides key starters, who likely aren’t playing during the preseason, with game-like reps in a more controlled practice environment.

These joint practices also break up what can be long days in training camp by competing against another opponent, and with these practices not televised, teams can go a little deeper into their playbooks than the very vanilla looks we see in the preseason.

This summer, in particular, the joint practices will also provide additional game-like reps for Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones, who are competing for the Colts’ starting quarterback job.
