Dane Brugler is seen as one of the premier voices and analysts covering the NFL Draft. When he talks about a player and team being a fit, it carries some weight. When the lead draft analyst of The Athletic was on The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny earlier this week, he spoke about a draft fit for the Bucs.
He paired the Bucs with Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron while talking about fits on the show saying, “Some teams see him as a nickel only. He’s got under-30-inch arms. He was at his best when he was on the inside as opposed to the outside, and so maybe [there’s] some matchup problems out there. But you add him to the mix in Tampa Bay with some young corners they have there, I feel like I’m upgrading my secondary with a guy that can help out in a few spots. So this, I think, makes sense for Tampa Bay.”
Barron could be as high as number six for the Las Vegas Raiders, so the idea of him falling to 19 would be shocking to some people. The Bucs have a need at the cornerback position, but at 19, they are more likely to land a difference-maker at the edge rusher position.
If someone does fall, though, it will be interesting to see what Jason Licht does.
