Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Offers Glowing Tyler Guyton Scouting Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
This offseason was looming as a crucial one for Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyler Guyton after a so-so rookie season.
After changing his diet in an attempt to get the most out of his body, it has been an offseason of change for the left tackle, and after impressing at OTAs and minicamp, now training camp has begun.
Guyton has had some good reps (vs. Dante Fowler) and some not-so-good ones with Donovan Ezeiruaku blowing past him, but it appears Guyton is having more good reps than bad ones.
And Dak Prescott knows that what Guyton produced last year is the fuel burning his fire in 2025.
“That disappointment, he’s channeled it all into motivation, and that’s his fuel of getting better,” Prescott said. “You saw glimpses of it in the offseason to now as we’re getting into this training camp. It’s continuing to grow. You’re only going to see it more when we get these pads on and he can really be a lineman again.
“But you can look at him and see he’s already changing, maturing physically, just speaking with him and watching the way he approaches the game, the mind’s already matured. So he’s just going to continue to take steps. Super comfortable with where he is and know that he’s not comfortable with where he is, but he’s going to continue to get better and [I’m] proud of that.”
With the Cowboys’ offensive line a little revamped with Tyler Booker now in at right guard to replace Zack Martin, it is more imperative that Guyton, in Year 2, nails down that left tackle role and gives Dak confidence that his blindside is protected.
That wasn’t always the case last season, but with Klayton Adams and Conor Riley doing their work, Guyton, it appears, is progressing nicely in the Oxnard sun.
Of course, when the pads come on, that will be the true test, but as things stand, Tyler is improving, and Dak’s noticing it.
