On the morning of the Dallas Cowboys’ first padded practice in Oxnard at training camp, the team has announced they have agreed to terms on a new contract with rising star tight end Jake Ferguson, who signs an extension worth $52 million in new money over four years.
The new deal includes a $12 million signing bonus and $30 mil guaranteed, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The contract is a historic one in the Cowboys’ rich tight end lore, as Ferguson is now the highest-paid TE in franchise history.
His new annual average salary of $13 million ranks seventh in the NFL among tight ends.
Ferguson’s deal comes rather abruptly as this is his first offseason eligible for an extension. “Big Biscuit” has spent three seasons with the club, and has turned into a reliable security blanket for Dak Prescott as his career has gone on.
In 2023, Ferguson earned his first Pro Bowl nod after a stellar season in which he brought in 71 passes for 761 yards and five touchdowns.
Last year did not meet those numbers, but various injuries – to himself and Prescott – along with the team-wide chaos of the season may have played into that drop in production.
This extension, however, asserts the belief that Jerry Jones and the organization are high on their starting tight end and are confident he can rebound this season.
Ferguson, of course, is just one of the handful of high-profile Cowboys players who are eligible for a new contract. May Ferg be the first of many dominos to fall this week?
Cowboys Nation sure hopes so.
