The details are in on Zach Tom’s four-year, $88 million extension with the Green Bay Packers.
According to Over the Cap, Tom’s cap number will rise to only $7.37 million in 2025. He has base salaries under $2 million in 2025, 2026 and 2027, can make $12 million in roster bonuses between 2026 and 2027 and has $4.8 million available in per-game roster bonuses ($700,000 per year, $2.8 million total) and workout bonuses ($500,000 per year, $2.0 million total) over the four new years of the deal.
Tom’s record signing bonus of $30.3 million is prorated across five seasons, meaning only $6 million hits the cap per year.
Tom has inflated base salaries of $16.8 million in 2028 and $22.8 million in 2029, but he has no guaranteed money past the 2027 season.
Here is the structuring of the deal, via Ken Ingalls:
The contract details are in for Zach Tom:
Cap hits very reasonable the first 3 years – surprised the year 3 cash is as low as it is…
Probably left some cash on the table, especially seeing some of the recent OL deals coming through lately. pic.twitter.com/W4Od59uLLz

The structuring matches what the Packers have generally gotten done with veteran players. A big signing bonus is paid up front but prorated over the life of the contract, and low base salaries early help keep the cap numbers low while bloated base salaries at the end of the deal give the team options. Roster bonuses provide decision points for the team midway through the deal.
As Ingalls notes, Tom’s deal will pay him only $46 million in new money across the first three years.
Tom’s four-year extension was tacked onto the final year of his rookie deal, meaning he’s under contract in Green Bay through the 2029 season.
