Confidence Isn’t Lacking for Titans QB Cam Ward originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Confidence. It can be a blessing, or it can be a curse. As for Titans quarterback Cam Ward, it has been a blessing for him along his journey so far with Tennessee
When speaking with the media after minicamp practice on June 12, Ward was asked about his confidence level, and he wasn’t shy about mentioning where it was:
“10.”
Ward went on to talk about why his confidence would not drop even if he had a multiple-interception game. And then he mentioned one thing that stood out:
“At the end of the day, I am a gunslinger.”
Ward is not lacking in confidence at all, and that is a good thing. When a rookie, especially a quarterback, enters the league, there can be a lot of stuff hitting them all at once. The change of scenery, along with the different personnel and learning the playbook, are just a few things players have to adjust to.
But if you look at Ward and all the things he has had thrown at him to start, it seems like he is taking it all in stride and flowing right into the NFL life. And while his confidence is high now, what will be interesting to watch is how he reacts to things that happen not in his favor and how he bounces back.
Nonetheless, having a young quarterback with confidence is a great thing. And with how Ward’s teammates, like Jeffrey Simmons, are receiving him and speaking about him, we might be in store for something special with Ward in the two-tone blue.
