The long nightmare is over. The Washington Commanders and Terry McLaurin reached a three-year deal on Monday morning worth up to $96 million. When the Commanders return to practice this week, there is no more “holding in” for McLaurin. He’ll be on the field with his teammates.
After news broke of McLaurin’s new deal, two of his most prominent teammates reacted: wide receiver Deebo Samuel and quarterback Jayden Daniels.

McLaurin and Samue were both entering the final year of their current contracts. Both selected in the 2019 NFL draft, the Commanders acquired Samuel for a fifth-round pick earlier this year, reworking his 2025 salary. While Samuel is happy to see McLaurin get paid, he understands it’s now his turn.
With McLaurin absent this summer, Daniels and Samuel appeared to develop a good rapport. Samuel is known for what he does after the catch, but the Commanders plan to use Samuel in a variety of roles. The presence of McLaurin is good news for Samuel, as it means more single coverage.
Monday was a good day for the Washington Commanders.
