Commanders' Day 2 mock draft: Who will Washington pick in the 2nd round?

The Washington Commanders continued to build the offensive line with their first pick in the 2025 NFL draft by selecting offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. with pick 29. It’s time to look at who the Commanders can take with their lone pick on day two of the draft with the 61st overall pick.

Adam Peters loved the pick for Conerly Jr. and said the plan for Day 2 is to take the highest player on their board and the best Commander possible. A lot of surprising talent fell down the board in the first round, and that sets up for an even better option at pick 61. This time, Washington addresses the defensive side of the ball and takes a player that has been on their radar all offseason.

Round: 2 Pick: 61

Oluwafemi Oladejo, EDGE, UCLA

Femi Oladejo has had numerous conversations with the Commanders’ entire front office and coaching staff after they traveled to UCLA to observe him during his pro day. The Commanders also hosted Femi on a top 30 visit soon after his pro day, and got him in the facility to get to know him more. The linebacker-turned-edge rusher was coached by current Commanders linebacker coach Ken Norton Jr. at UCLA two years ago. Femi popped onto the scene after dominating against the best offensive lineman in the draft at the Senior Bowl in front of all 32 teams, including Washington.

The former Bruin is still raw at the position, but he looks like a natural at the position already after his lone season on the edge. Oladejo plays with explosiveness and freak athleticism and uses his long arms to his advantage to get through blockers. Femi fits everything Washington looks for on and off the field as a high-character player who really impressed me in our talks at the Senior Bowl and has continued to do so with every team throughout the process. On the field, he plays with high energy, a relentless motor, and would naturally fit into the culture Dan Quinn has built on defense.
