Colts announce 2 roster moves: Sign DT familiar with Lou Anarumo and place OT on IR

The Indianapolis Colts announced a pair of roster moves on Monday, prior to the team’s first padded practice.

The Colts are signing free agent defensive tackle Josh Tupou, and the corresponding move to make room on the roster is placing offensive tackle Jack Wilson on injured reserve. Wilson had missed the last couple of practices with a pec injury.

Tupou is an experienced player, having been in the NFL since 2017, and has played 1,756 career defensive snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

Tupou most recently spent the 2024 season with Baltimore, but of note, he played multiple seasons in Cincinnati under now Colts’ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.

Listed at 6-3 – 340 pounds, Tupou can provide a run-stuffing presence in the middle of the Colts’ defensive front.

With DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, and Neville Gallimore, who GM Chris Ballard spoke very highly of, the first three spots in the defensive tackle rotation are accounted for, but the final two roster spots or so could be up for grabs with Eric Johnson, Adetomiwa Adebawore, and Tim Smith among those competing.
