Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett Reveals Honest Thoughts on ‘Hungry’ Mason Graham originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Cleveland Browns took a big risk during this year’s NFL draft by trading the No. 2 overall pick and passing on wideout/cornerback Travis Hunter.
Instead, general manager Andrew Berry found his guy at No. 5 in defensive tackle Mason Graham.
In Cleveland, Hunter and Graham will be forever linked because of Berry’s decision, and only time will tell if it’ll pay off for the Browns.
According to star defender Myles Garrett, Graham has already made an impression at minicamp.
“I think he’s hungry. He’s pretty quiet, but I see him watching a lot. I see him learning, and he’s just really inquisitive you know, staying near to make sure that he hears like every detail and just picking up on things. See him taking things from the meeting room to the playing field, not really asking any questions, but just, you know, naturally picking up on those cues,” Garrett said, via Browns beat reporter Scott Petrak.
It’s hoped that Graham can take some of the pressure off Garrett by drawing some of those double teams that Garrett is used to lining up against. But that will come with time.
Before then, the Browns need him to be the same disruptive force he was at Michigan in the Big Ten.
“He is a DNA match for our defense, a disruptive interior penetrator … we thought he was one of the more dominant trench prospects in this year’s class,” said Berry.
Even as a rookie, Graham will find room in the six-to-eight-man defensive line rotation that Berry and coach Kevin Stefanski want to employ in Cleveland.
